Description:
Main Purpose:
To perform all electrical-related job functions assigned, providing preventive maintenance and/or electrical repairs to all electrical motors and related components owned or rented by Gulf Island in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Functions:
Perform routine maintenance such as changing worn electrical cables, plugs, sockets, fuses, switches, circuit breakers, etc., and checking electrical settings on welding machines to ensure efficient operations and performance Repair and overhaul electrical motors on overhead cranes and welding machines and replace applicable parts, such as armatures, brushes, wiring, etc. As required, run electrical lines and install electrical hookups (outlets, 220 volts, 440 volts, etc.) in the fabrication yard Replace burned-out lights in office and shop areas Repair electrical components in CB and two-way radios Ensure that all electrical motors, machines, equipment, and application components are operating in a safe and efficient manner Ability to read schematics Perform other duties assigned by supervisor

Requirements:
Physical Requirements:
Standing Walking Turning, twisting, bending, and stooping Pushing and Pulling Reaching, forward and overhead Climbing Balancing, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing Lifting - employees must lift to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds
Job Requirements:
3+ years experience as an electrician in an Industrial setting Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen Must be able to pass background checks to company policy Must be able to read and write
Desirable Experience, Education, and Training:
Highschool diploma or
GED Tools, Equipment, and Technology:
Must have knowledge of and use hand tools associated/required to perform electrical maintenance and repair duties Must also know how to use voltage and other electrical detection meters
Environmental Conditions:
80% to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They may also be exposed to fumes (Paint, paint thinners, diesel, /or gas, etc.) Gulf Island will not sponsor applications for work visas.
