You'll learn dryer-vent systems, components and tools in the classroom, then shadow a lead technician for several weeks until you're ready to work independently.

Independent work:

Once trained, you'll manage your own schedule of 4-6 service calls per day. Your day typically begins between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Active, hands-on work: Set up ladders, climb onto pitched roofs, work in attics, crawlspaces and behind dryers. It's like a light fullƀbody workout every day, so you'll need to be comfortable with physical activity.

Customer interaction:

Treat each home with care and respect. You'll communicate with homeowners, explain what you're doing and answer their questions.

Documentation:

Use our payroll app to clock in/out, and scheduling software to view schedules and record each job with photos and brief summaries. Schedule & requirements Full-time, daytime hours most days with occasional long days (10-14 hours) or night jobs, depending on the project. Occasional Saturdays are required when customer needs demand.

Core Ventilation & HVAC Systems Expertise Advanced knowledge of dryer vent systems, ductwork, and airflow dynamics Hands-on experience with: Dryer vent system installation, maintenance, and cleaning Exhaust systems and ventilation pathways Ability to: Diagnose airflow restrictions and inefficiencies Perform full vent cleaning, rerouting, and system optimization Familiarity with: Residential and light commercial HVAC configurations Split systems, rooftop systems, and duct layouts 2. Mechanical & Cleaning Equipment Proficiency Expert use of: Rotary brush systems, vacuums, air compressors (industry standard tools) Hand tools and power tools Ability to: Disassemble and reassemble vent systems safely Operate and maintain cleaning equipment Strong mechanical aptitude: Material handling and assembly skills Preventative maintenance practices 3. Electrical Systems Awareness (Critical for Dryer Units) Working knowledge of: Electrical wiring, voltage systems (low/high voltage) preferred. Appliance electrical connections and safety protocols Ability to: Safely disconnect/reconnect dryer units Identify electrical hazards during service 4. Inspection, Diagnostics & Compliance Strong inspection capabilities: Identify lint buildup, blockages, improper venting, and fire hazards

Knowledge of:

OSHA safety standards Building codes and ventilation compliance Ability to: Document findings and recommend corrective actions Ensure systems meet safety and efficiency standards 5. Construction & Installation Skills Ability to: Install or modify dryer vent systems (rigid, semi-rigid, flexible ducts) Work with wall/roof penetrations and sealing techniques Experience with: Construction environments and job site safety 6. Physical & Field Service Capabilities Comfortable with: Confined spaces, rooftops, and ladders Heavy lifting and physically demanding work Experience operating: Service vehicles / vans (valid clean driver's license required) Ability to work in: Residential, commercial, and industrial environments 7.
