Job Description

High Voltage Electrician Overview Akron Energy Systems provides steam and chilled water service to downtown Akron, helping hospitals, municipal buildings, residential buildings, light industrial facilities, commercial properties, mixed-use buildings, and other essential facilities operate reliably and efficiently every day. We are looking for a High Voltage Electrician to help maintain and troubleshoot high-voltage systems at our production facilities and support day-to-day plant electrical maintenance. This is a strong opportunity for someone who values safety, takes pride in safe, accurate work, and is interested in learning the systems and additional skills needed to succeed in the role. Key Responsibilities High Voltage Work Inspect and install stress cones and prepare cables Work on switchgear, including circuit breakers and disconnecting switches Maintain and troubleshoot 24kV and 480V switchgear Perform inspections and troubleshooting on high-voltage equipment Plant Maintenance & Industrial Electrical Work Wire equipment Install electrical conduit Troubleshoot lighting fixtures Install new equipment Read and interpret wiring diagrams Support general plant maintenance needs as part of a collaborative team Required Qualifications Working knowledge of high-voltage switchgear, including 24kV and 480V systems Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems Experience working on energized electrical systems while following proper safety protocols Proficiency with electrical testing equipment, including meters and diagnostic tools Strong attention to safety, especially in high-voltage work Reliable and able to respond when on-call needs arise Preferred Qualifications Understanding of applicable electrical codes and safety regulations Good communication skills for coordinating with plant staff and operators Interest in learning new systems Willingness to learn and take on related tasks outside the core scope as needed Familiarity with NFPA 70E and arc flash safety procedures Experience wiring control panels Schedule Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Overtime may be available but is expected to be limited On-call needs are uncommon, but our teams respond together when support is needed
