Job Description
Lumber Sawmill Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Journeyman Electrician with industrial experience to join our maintenance team at a high-production lumber sawmill. This role is critical to maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient electrical systems supporting sawmill and manufacturing operations.Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems and equipment
- Diagnose and repair motors, VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, MCCs, and production machinery
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime
- Work closely with maintenance and production teams to support continuous operations
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards
- Participate in shutdowns, upgrades, and capital improvement projects as needed
Qualifications:
- Valid Journeyman Electrician license
- Industrial electrical experience (sawmill, manufacturing, or heavy industrial preferred)
- Strong troubleshooting skills in high-voltage and low-voltage systems
- Experience with motors, controls, PLCs, and industrial automation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, production environment
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as required
Preferred Experience:
- Lumber sawmill or wood products manufacturing experience
- PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
- Experience with conveyors, kilns, debarkers, planers, or similar equipment
