In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing detailed estimates, and supporting the bidding process for commercial construction projects. Your expertise will help ensure competitive pricing while maintaining profitability and quality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to diverse projects, collaborate with clients and subcontractors, and play a key role in project planning and execution. Responsibilities Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to interpret project scope and requirements. Utilize estimating software such as GDS Estimating, Bluebeam, and other construction management tools to develop precise cost estimates. Prepare detailed material takeoffs and quantify material requirements from blueprints and technical drawings. Conduct cost analysis including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor quotes to establish accurate project budgets. Manage project estimates from initial concept through final bid submission, ensuring all costs are accounted for and aligned with client expectations. Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to communicate estimates clearly and address any scope changes or adjustments. Monitor ongoing project costs to support cost control efforts and ensure projects stay within budget parameters. Review contracts, change orders, and project documentation to ensure accuracy in pricing and scope management. Maintain organized records of all estimating documents, bids, revisions, and correspondence for future reference. Skills Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu for digital blueprint reading and markup. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms from vendors and subcontractors. Experience with GDS Estimating or similar estimating software for comprehensive bid preparation. Solid understanding of construction management software platforms used for project tracking and estimation. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for cost analysis and data organization. Expertise in reading construction blueprints, technical drawings, and interpreting construction specifications. Ability to review construction drawings thoroughly to estimate material requirements accurately. Skilled in cost management principles including cost control strategies for large-scale projects. Extensive experience in construction industry estimation for commercial projects across various sectors. Strong background in managing projects as a construction estimator from initial estimate through project completion. Familiarity with Xactimate or similar estimating tools used in property or insurance-related construction projects is a plus. Excellent client communication skills to present estimates clearly and respond effectively to inquiries. Hands-on experience with construction site activities enhances understanding of on-the-ground realities impacting estimates.
