General Description This position within Hubbard Construction will have at least three (3) years of asphalt estimating experience, with an emphasis on DOT Work. Key Duties Experience working for a General Contractor as an estimator bidding on DOT or heavy highway projects required Estimating projects which typically range from 5 million to 50 million dollars Estimating self-performed work and pricing the labor, equipment, and material costs Working knowledge of construction assemblies and all project phases Ability to produce accurate estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings Ability to produce detailed, final contract estimates Ability to assess site exposures/construction risks and be able to appropriately analyze cost and reflect these in an estimate Ability to identify constructability issues through the estimating process Ability to identify value-engineering alternatives Ability to work as a team Ability to read, write and communicate effectively Working experience on HCSS software a plus Travel within Florida may be required Qualification Requirements General . To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Key Duty satisfactorily. This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as an Estimator. A four-year degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or equivalent required. Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with management and fellow employees. Experience working for a General Contractor as an estimator bidding on DOT or heavy highway projects between $5M and $50M required. This position requires you to be experienced in estimating bridges and /or grading and utilities of D.O.T. projects. Typical projects are bridges, interstate rehabs, highway replacements, concrete paving, and airport projects. Valid Florida driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Physical Demands. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an Estimator, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequent ability to sit for prolonged periods of time; Ability to drive a company vehicle for various recruiting events. Frequent ability to talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; Frequent ability to operate standard office equipment, using hand and arm dexterity; Frequent ability to navigate through office environment, including periodic use of stairs and/or elevator, as needed; Infrequent ability to lift general office documents and materials, up to 10 pounds; Frequent vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Estimator encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work generally is performed in an office environment, although periodic visits to construction sites and asphalt manufacturing facilities is required. Noise level in the typical office work environment is quiet; however, when visiting construction sites and/or asphalt manufacturing facilities, various levels of noise, dust and other environmental exposures may occur; any exposure is within the established Permissible Exposure Limits, however Personal protective Equipment such as hardhats, hearing protection and safety glasses, may be required.
