Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Estimator and Project Manager to join our Excavation team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing comprehensive estimates, and collaborating closely with clients, PMs, Superintendents, and suppliers to ensure successful project execution. Your expertise will help drive profitable projects by providing precise budgeting, cost analysis, and material requirement assessments for commercial construction projects. Responsibilities Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to determine project scope and requirements. Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing material costs, labor rates, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes using estimating software Bluebeam. Manage the entire estimation process for commercial construction projects, including quantity takeoffs, pricing, and bid preparation. Collaborate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors through negotiation to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms. Conduct site visits to gather on-the-ground insights that influence accurate cost forecasting and resource planning. Assist in managing project budgets by estimating material requirements from blueprints and reviewing construction drawings for potential cost-saving opportunities. Support contract review processes by interpreting technical specifications and ensuring compliance with project scope and client expectations. Skills Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Xactimate, or equivalent tools for accurate cost analysis. Strong knowledge of Bluebeam for digital blueprint reading and markup. Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors. Experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry. Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings, technical specifications, and blueprints effectively. Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite—including Excel spreadsheets—for data analysis and presentation of estimates. Deep understanding of construction management processes including cost control, material estimation, and project budgeting. Construction site experience coupled with knowledge of contracts, project management principles, and construction industry standards.
