Job Description
The Junior Estimator & Drafter supports the estimating, drafting, engineering, sales, and production teams in the preparation of precast concrete projects. This entry-level position is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, assisting with material takeoffs and cost estimates, and preparing accurate drawings and project documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with numbers and drawings, and interested in developing a career in the precast concrete industry. The position provides hands-on experience with estimating, AutoCAD/CAD drafting, precast products, construction plans, shop drawings, and production requirements . Key Responsibilities Review structural, civil, and project drawings and specifications. Assist with material and quantity takeoffs for precast concrete projects. Develop drawings and details from contract documents, sketches, markups, and engineer/project manager direction. Assist with preparing production drawings, detail sheets, erection drawings, and other project documentation. Review drawings for accuracy, dimensions, quantities, embeds, reinforcement, connections, and other project requirements. Incorporate revisions, RFIs, addenda, and field or customer changes into drawings and estimates. Coordinate with estimating, engineering, sales, production, and project management to resolve discrepancies. Maintain organized project files, drawings, estimates, and revisions. Assist with preparing material lists and production information. Develop an understanding of precast manufacturing, forming, reinforcement, hardware, transportation, and erection requirements . Communicate with team members to identify potential estimating, drafting, or production issues before they become problems. Perform other estimating, drafting, and project-support duties as assigned. What We're Looking For High school diploma required; technical school, drafting, construction, engineering, or related education preferred. Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply. Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and civil plans. Basic mathematical and measurement skills. Familiarity with CAD And Titan preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to organize multiple projects and meet deadlines. Willingness to learn the precast concrete manufacturing process. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with estimating, engineering, sales, production, and field personnel. As experience and proficiency increase, the employee can take on greater responsibility for independent estimates, project drafting, customer submittals, production drawings, and project coordination.
