An Estimator provides cost estimates for a project, based on an evaluation of the materials, labor, time and equipment needed to complete the project. May specialize in many aspects of construction or in manufacturing and design industries.
Shore Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator / Sales Representative to join our growing residential construction and remodeling company serving South Jersey. This is not a traditional in home sales position. We are looking for someone who understands how residential construction actually comes together and can confidently meet with homeowners, evaluate projects in the field, develop scopes of work, estimate costs, and help move qualified projects from the initial consultation into production. The ideal candidate has hands on construction, remodeling, estimating, project management, or field experience and understands the labor, materials, sequencing, and subcontractor coordination required to complete residential projects successfully. Kitchen design and kitchen remodeling experience is strongly preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet with prospective clients at their homes to evaluate remodeling and construction projects Perform site visits, take measurements, photographs, and document existing conditions Develop detailed project scopes based on client needs and field conditions Estimate labor, material, subcontractor, and project costs Prepare and present professional proposals to homeowners Review architectural plans and construction drawings Identify potential structural, permitting, mechanical, and site considerations during the estimating process Work with subcontractors and vendors to obtain accurate project pricing Help clients understand project options, selections, allowances, and overall investment Follow up with prospective clients and guide qualified projects through the sales process Work closely with ownership and the production team to ensure sold projects are accurately handed off for construction Assist with kitchen layouts, cabinetry, countertops, finishes, and related selections when applicable Maintain accurate notes, measurements, estimates, proposals, and client communication
QUALIFICATIONS
Residential construction or remodeling field experience is strongly preferred Construction estimating experience preferred Ability to understand how residential projects are actually built, not simply sell them Experience with additions, kitchens, bathrooms, decks, exterior renovations, or whole home remodeling is highly desirable Kitchen design, cabinetry, or kitchen remodeling experience is a major plus Ability to read architectural plans and construction drawings Strong understanding of residential construction materials and methods Comfortable measuring projects and evaluating existing field conditions Strong communication and client facing skills Confident discussing project scope, construction process, and investment with homeowners Organized and capable of managing multiple estimates and opportunities at once Comfortable using estimating, CRM, project management, and digital documentation software Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout South Jersey
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who combines construction knowledge with strong communication and sales ability. This role is best suited for someone who has spent time around actual construction projects, whether as an estimator, carpenter, remodeler, project manager, superintendent, kitchen designer, contractor, or similar field based position. We are not looking for someone whose experience is limited to scripted in home sales. Our clients expect us to understand their projects from both a construction and investment standpoint, and this position plays an important role in establishing that trust from the first meeting.
