In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs for plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems on commercial construction projects. Your expertise will help ensure competitive pricing, effective cost control, and successful project execution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, collaborate with clients and contractors, and contribute to the growth of a forward-thinking construction company. Duties Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to interpret project scope and requirements. Utilize estimating software to prepare detailed cost estimates for plumbing and mechanical systems. Analyze material costs, labor rates, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes to develop accurate project budgets. Manage the entire estimating process from initial bid to final proposal, including quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and spreadsheets. Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to secure favorable pricing and terms while maintaining project profitability. Prepare comprehensive bid packages that include detailed scope of work, pricing breakdowns, and schedule considerations. Monitor project costs throughout the bidding process and assist in cost management strategies during project execution. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to review construction drawings and ensure estimates align with design intent. Conduct site visits when necessary to gather additional information or verify existing conditions for accurate estimation. Maintain organized records of all estimates, contracts, correspondence, and revisions for future reference. Requirements Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry. Strong proficiency in estimating software; familiarity with Bluebeam is highly desirable. Excellent skills in blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and reviewing construction plans. Solid understanding of construction management software, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel), and cost control methodologies. Demonstrated ability in material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and managing project budgets effectively. Effective negotiation skills with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to achieve optimal outcomes. Construction site experience or engineering experience is preferred to better understand field conditions impacting estimates. Knowledge of contracts related to construction projects including scope of work definitions and legal considerations. Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
