Certified Construction Manager Full Job Description Brief Description:
We are searching for a Construction Estimator responsible for writing residential remodeling project estimates in Xactimate. This position works closely with homeowners, insurance adjusters, project managers, and production teams to ensure estimates accurately reflect project scope, pricing, and building requirements. The primary function is to successfully obtain, bid, and price projects in alignment with company standards and customer approval. This is an in-person role, you must be here in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Primary tasks:
Conduct on-site inspections of residential properties to assess damage, repair needs, and remodeling opportunities desired by homeowners. Communicate with homeowners on a daily basis in person and via email or phone - Attention to detail is HUGE! Create detailed, accurate estimates using Xactimate for insurance restoration and residential remodeling projects within 2 business days. Prepare supplemental estimates as additional damage or scope changes are identified. Review insurance carrier estimates and negotiate scope and pricing with adjusters when necessary. Perform accurate measurements utilizing Xactimate Sketch and other digital measuring tools. Develop detailed scopes of work for production teams and subcontractors. Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure estimates align with construction methods and company standards. Assist in obtaining project approvals and signed contracts via follow-ups and regular updates. Maintain documentation, photos, notes, and estimate revisions within company software. Identify change orders and prepare revised estimates as projects evolve. Monitor project costs against estimated budgets. Stay current on local building codes, material pricing, labor trends, and insurance estimating practices. Participate in team meetings and continuous training to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of construction estimating experience in residential remodeling, restoration, or insurance adjusting. Proficiency with Xactimate and other construction management programs (ex: CompanyCam) Excellent communication, problem solving skills, & customer service record. Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and building systems. Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and construction documents. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to multitask and work multiple projects at once. Exceptional attention to detail & team player. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, kneel, bend, crawl, climb ladders, etc. Frequent driving to jobsites.
Compensation & Benefits:
