About Us:

We are a locally owned steel fabrication company specializing in structural and miscellaneous steel. Our team takes pride in precision, craftsmanship, and teamwork. We're looking for a skilled Shop Fitter/Welder to join our fabrication shop and help produce high-quality steel components for commercial and industrial projects.

Position Summary:

The Shop Fitter/Welder is responsible for fitting, assembling, and welding structural steel components using dual shield (FCAW-G) processes. This position requires the ability to read and interpret shop drawings, accurately fit parts to tolerance, and produce clean, structurally sound welds in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints. Fit and assemble beams, columns, braces, and other steel members to drawing specifications. Perform dual shield (FCAW-G) welding on carbon steel with sound weld quality and proper penetration. Verify dimensions and alignment using tape measures, squares, levels, and other tools. Grind, clean, and prepare materials for welding. Operate forklifts, and hand tools safely. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Work with the shop foreman and other team members to meet production goals and deadlines.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of experience in steel fabrication and fitting. Proficient with dual shield (FCAW-G) welding. Ability to read and understand structural and shop drawings. Strong understanding of fabrication tolerances and layout techniques. Experience with general shop equipment. Must be safety-conscious and detail-oriented. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in a fabrication shop environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

AWS D1.1

certification or ability to pass a weld test. Experience with MIG and stick welding. Familiarity with miscellaneous metals (stairs, rails, embeds, etc.).

Schedule & Compensation:

Full-time position, Monday-Friday. Competitive pay based on experience. Overtime available as needed.
