Job Title:
Ironworker Job Description This role focuses on assembling and erecting steel structures in an industrial fabrication shop, including bridges, tanks, vessels, and other large projects. You will work as an assembly specialist, performing ironwork and rigging tasks while using a variety of tools and equipment to safely and accurately complete structural fabrication and installation. Responsibilities Assemble bridges, tanks, vessels, and other large steel projects in the yard according to specifications and drawings. Perform steel erecting and ironwork tasks, ensuring structural components are aligned, connected, and secured properly. Carry out rigging activities to move, lift, and position heavy materials and components safely. Handle physical tasks such as bending, laying down, lifting, and other movements required for assembly and erection work. Use torches to cut, shape, or prepare steel components for fabrication and installation. Operate magnetic drills to drill precise holes in steel structures as required. Use grinders to finish, smooth, or adjust steel surfaces and edges. Perform tack welding to temporarily join steel components prior to final welding. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in an industrial fabrication shop environment. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are used and stored properly. Essential Skills Experience working as a fabricator in an industrial or structural steel environment. Hands-on experience with rigging, including safely lifting and moving heavy steel components. Proficiency in steel erecting and ironwork, including assembling and installing structural elements. Ability to perform physically demanding work such as bending, lifting, and working in various positions throughout the shift. Familiarity with using torches, magnetic drills, grinders, and performing tack welding. Strong commitment to safety practices in an industrial fabrication setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience assembling large-scale projects such as bridges, tanks, and vessels. Ability to work effectively in hot, dirty, and dusty environments. Comfort working in open-air facilities with industrial noise and activity. Attention to detail when working with structural components and tools. Ability to collaborate with a team of ironworkers and fabricators to complete complex projects. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gibsonton, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
