Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fitter to join our steel fabrication operation. This position is responsible for laying out, fitting, and assembling structural steel components from shop drawings prior to final welding. This is a skilled fabrication position requiring the ability to understand drawings, accurately measure and position components, and ensure assemblies are properly fit before they move through production. Primary Duties Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings. Lay out and fit structural steel components for fabrication. Measure, position, align, and tack components accurately. Verify dimensions, orientation, and fit before final welding. Use tape measures, squares, levels, grinders, and other fabrication tools. Perform tack welding and welding as required during the fitting process. Identify fit-up or drawing issues before assemblies move to the next production stage. Work safely around cranes, steel material, welding equipment, and other shop operations. Maintain productivity while meeting established quality requirements. Qualifications Previous structural steel fitting or fabrication experience preferred. Strong ability to read and work from shop drawings. Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform layout work. MIG welding experience. Ability to pass required skills and/or weld testing. Ability to work independently and maintain consistent quality. Dependable attendance and safe work habits. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, and climbing as required to fit and assemble steel components. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.; heavier materials are handled with mechanical assistance or team lifting. Ability to safely use hand tools, welding equipment, and fabrication equipment throughout the shift. Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, welding fumes, sparks, and moving equipment. Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
