Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated MIG Welder to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing precise welding operations using Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding techniques to create durable metal structures and components. Your expertise in interpreting technical drawings, measuring instruments, and mechanical blueprints will ensure the highest quality standards are met. Responsibilities Execute MIG welding processes on various metal materials, including sheet metal and pipe components, following detailed blueprints and technical drawings. Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop math to accurately measure and cut materials using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and hand tools. Prepare workpieces by cleaning, aligning, and clamping parts before welding to ensure precision and quality. Use power tools such as plasma cutters, grinders, and drills for fabrication tasks related to assembly or repair projects. Maintain compliance with safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), adherence to ASME codes & standards, AWS standards, and OSHA regulations. Conduct quality inspections using measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers to verify dimensions against specifications. Collaborate with team members on fabrication shop tasks involving metal materials, sheet metal fabrication, pipe threading, machining, soldering, plasma cutting, and assembly processes. Qualifications Proven experience in construction site environments or fabrication shops with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes. Demonstrated proficiency in MIG welding techniques; familiarity with FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) is a plus. Knowledge of shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), TIG welding, gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and welding standards preferred. Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical schematics accurately; experience interpreting mechanical blueprints is essential. Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, micrometers, measuring tapes, and other precision tools. Mechanical knowledge including shop math, basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks. Experience working with power tools and hand tools safely within a manufacturing or construction environment. Familiarity with safety protocols related to welding operations and metal fabrication environments. Strong understanding of ASME codes & standards for piping or pressure vessel work is advantageous. Ability to work effectively on construction sites or in fabrication shops while adhering to safety procedures and quality standards.
