Job Description

Desired Qualifications and Skills:
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) with a thorough understanding of Deaf culture Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score meeting state requirements or nationally recognized certification (such as RID/NIC) Experience interpreting in school or youth-centered environments strongly preferred Ability to interpret both receptive (incoming) and expressive (outgoing) communication clearly and accurately Professionalism, adaptability, and strong collaborative skills when supporting students, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and all school-related communications between students and staff using sign language Adjust interpreting techniques as appropriate to accommodate different ages, grade levels, and subject matter Work closely with teachers, special educators, and other team members to ensure students access to instruction and participation in activities Maintain accurate, confidential records according to school protocol Support students independence, self-advocacy, and socialization within a supportive school community Enjoy perks that enhance work-life balance, such as a flexible schedule and the chance to experience valued professional growth in a rewarding setting.
