Fabricator - MIG and TIG Auburn Hills, MI Long-term contract
Pay:
$30-35/hr based on experience and certifications Experience in automotive fabrication, metal fabrication, welding, or vehicle assembly. Proficiency with fabrication tools and shop equipment. Experience with MIG and TIG welding Description We are seeking a skilled Fabricator to build, modify, assemble, and repair metal components and structures used in automotive, vehicle, and prototype applications. The ideal candidate will have experience interpreting engineering drawings, welding, machining, and fabricating vehicle/engine dyno components to support product development, testing, manufacturing, or custom vehicle programs. Responsibilities Fabricate, modify, and assemble automotive components, structures, frames, brackets, and vehicle systems. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and technical specifications. Cut, bend, shape, drill, grind, and finish metal materials to required dimensions and tolerances. Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other materials. Strong emphasis on TIG. Build prototypes, test fixtures, vehicle modifications, and production support equipment. Install fabricated components on vehicles/engine dynos and verify fit, form, and function. Work with engineers, technicians, and production teams to support vehicle and engine dyno development activities. Maintain quality standards and perform inspections on completed work. Troubleshoot fabrication issues and recommend design improvements. Operate fabrication equipment safely, including saws, brakes, shears, presses, mills, and welding tools. Maintain compliance with safety procedures and shop standards. Requirements High school diploma, GED, technical certificate, or equivalent experience. Experience in automotive fabrication, metal fabrication, welding, or vehicle assembly. Ability to read engineering drawings and fabrication blueprints. Proficiency with fabrication tools and shop equipment. Experience with MIG and TIG welding processes. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Candidates to bring their own tools precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and measuring tools and perform using these tools. Preferred Qualifications Automotive, motorsports, prototype, or specialty vehicle fabrication experience. Experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, and chromoly materials.
