$25.00-$28.00/hr based on experience Entech Staffing Solutions is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Assembly Technician for a capital equipment manufacturer in Rochester, MI. This is a full-time, contract position with the potential to go direct for the right candidate. This is a growing capital equipment manufacturer specializing in the design, fabrication, assembly, and commissioning of industrial equipment. The equipment is engineered and built in-house, requiring a high level of precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. The Mechanical Assembly Tech will play a key role in building equipment from components and subassemblies through final assembly and testing. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, understands mechanical systems, can read technical drawings, and takes pride in building high-quality machinery. Position Summary The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, installing, aligning, and testing mechanical components and equipment according to engineering drawings, specifications, and company procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers to complete equipment builds on schedule and to company quality standards. Key Responsibilities Assemble industrial machinery and capital equipment from engineering drawings and work instructions. Install mechanical components including frames, guards, motors, gearboxes, pumps, valves, bearings, shafts, conveyors, piping, and other equipment. Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and schematics. Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, drills, grinders, and other mechanical assembly equipment. Perform mechanical alignment, leveling, fitting, and adjustment of equipment. Measure components using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, levels, and other precision measurement tools. Identify and correct mechanical fitment, alignment, and assembly issues. Perform equipment modifications and adjustments as directed by projects Work with electrical personnel during installation of motors, sensors, controls, and other electrical components. Assist with equipment startup, testing, troubleshooting, and factory acceptance testing. Maintain accurate assembly documentation and communicate completed work to Project Management. Inspect completed assemblies for quality, workmanship, and compliance with drawings. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements. Safely operate forklifts, cranes, hoists, and other material-handling equipment when properly trained. Assist with equipment installation and commissioning at customer locations when required. Work overtime and travel periodically based on project requirements. Qualifications Required 2+ years of mechanical assembly, industrial equipment, machinery, manufacturing, or related experience. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Experience using hand and power tools. Ability to accurately measure and verify components. Ability to work independently and as part of a project team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to safely lift and move equipment/components as required. Qualifications Preferred Experience assembling capital equipment, industrial machinery, automation equipment, or custom machinery. Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic systems. Experience installing motors, gearboxes, pumps, valves, bearings, and drive systems. Experience with mechanical alignment and precision assembly. Experience working from Bills of Materials (BOMs). Basic electrical/mechanical troubleshooting experience. Forklift or overhead crane experience. Welding or fabrication experience. Experience working in a project-based manufacturing environment. Technical school, machining, industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, or related education. Physical Requirements Stand and work for extended periods. Frequently bend, kneel, reach, climb, and work in various positions around machinery. Lift and move components and tools. Work around industrial machinery and equipment. Safely use hand tools and power tools. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). #gb
