Select Steel Fabricators Inc is looking for a skilled Fitter to join our team in Southfield, MI! This is a hands-on opportunity to work with a dedicated fabrication crew, bringing precision and craftsmanship to every project. Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to plan fitting operations Align, fit, and assemble structural steel components according to specifications Use hand tools, clamps, squares, and measuring instruments to ensure precise fit-up Tack weld components in preparation for final welding Inspect fitted assemblies for dimensional accuracy and quality compliance Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and shop supervisors to meet production schedules Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with shop safety standards
Requirements:
Prior experience as a Fitter or Structural Steel Fabricator in a shop environment Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings Proficiency with layout tools, measuring instruments, and hand tools Basic tack welding skills; MIG or stick welding experience a plus Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods in a shop setting Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player
