Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Shop Welder to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing high-quality welding and metal fabrication tasks on various projects, ensuring all work meets safety standards and technical specifications. Your expertise will help us deliver durable, precise, and reliable metal components for construction, manufacturing, and industrial applications. Responsibilities Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine welding requirements and procedures. Use a variety of welding techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) to join metal materials with precision. Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment to prepare metal surfaces for welding and fabrication. Measure and mark materials accurately using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure proper fit-up and alignment. Fabricate sheet metal components and assemblies according to specifications while adhering to American Welding Society (AWS) standards. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following strict safety protocols, including proper handling of gas cylinders, power tools, and welding equipment. Inspect completed welds for quality assurance using measuring instruments and visual inspection techniques; make necessary adjustments or repairs as needed. Collaborate with team members on assembly processes, construction site requirements, or fabrication shop projects to meet deadlines efficiently. Experience Proven shop welding experience with a strong background in metal fabrication, sheet metal work, or construction site environments. Hands-on experience with various welding processes such as MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding. Familiarity with interpreting mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans accurately. Knowledge of using measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools for quality control. Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication shop operations, assembly techniques, machining processes, and construction site safety protocols. Ability to operate power tools and hand tools safely while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship. Experience working with different metal materials including steel, aluminum, sheet metal components, and structural elements.
