In this role, you will be responsible for welding and assembling large steel structures with precision and adherence to safety standards. Your expertise in various welding techniques, blueprint interpretation, and metal fabrication will contribute to the successful completion of complex projects on time and within specifications. Duties Read and interpret detailed mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine welding requirements. Prepare metal materials by measuring, cutting, and shaping sheet metal using plasma cutters, power tools, and machining equipment. Perform welding operations using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) techniques in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math skills to ensure precise dimensions and fit-up of components. Fabricate structural steel components by welding, grinding, fitting, and assembling parts on construction sites or in the shop environment. Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including proper use of hand tools, power tools, and personal protective equipment during all phases of fabrication and welding. Collaborate with team members to ensure quality control, timely project completion, and compliance with project specifications. Qualifications Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes. Proficiency in multiple welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints accurately. Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other shop math calculations for precision work. Mechanical knowledge related to metal materials, sheet metal fabrication, plasma cutting, machining, and fabrication shop operations. Experience working with structural steel components in a construction or fabrication environment. Knowledge of safety protocols related to welding operations and construction site procedures.
