As early as September 24, 2026 Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Equipment Operator to join our electrical contracting team for an immediate project need. This is a temporary, prevailing wage position with the possibility of full-time employment based on performance, workload, and company needs. Applicants must have a current and valid operator license and relevant heavy equipment operating experience. The Equipment Operator will work alongside our electrical construction crews and will primarily support underground electrical work, including trenching, excavation, backfilling, grading, material handling, and site preparation. Responsibilities Safely operate excavators, backhoes, loaders, skid steers, trenchers, and other heavy construction equipment Perform trenching and excavation for underground electrical conduit, duct banks, vaults, equipment pads, and related electrical installations Backfill, compact, grade, and restore work areas following underground installations Safely work around existing underground utilities and active electrical construction operations Load, unload, move, and stage construction materials and equipment Perform daily pre-operation inspections and safety checks on assigned equipment Identify and report equipment issues, unsafe conditions, utility conflicts, and jobsite hazards Perform basic equipment maintenance and minor adjustments as needed Follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety procedures Maintain equipment inspection and usage documentation as required Assist electrical crews with general jobsite activities when equipment operation is not required Follow the direction of the Foreman, Superintendent, and Project Manager Qualifications Current and valid operator license required Previous heavy equipment operating experience required Experience with excavators, backhoes, loaders, skid steers, trenchers, and similar equipment Underground utility and/or electrical construction experience strongly preferred Knowledge of safe excavation and trenching practices Experience working safely around existing underground utilities Understanding of construction site safety, PPE requirements, and hazard identification Ability to conduct equipment inspections and perform basic preventative maintenance Ability to follow jobsite plans, markings, and instructions Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a construction crew Ability to perform physical construction duties and work outdoors in varying jobsite conditions Reliable transportation to assigned project locations
