Summary Of Position:
Maintaining furnace four (4) operations during work shift as directed. The essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:
Principal Duties and Functions:
1. Keeping the furnaces producing on schedule and to standard. 2. Monitoring the recovery being generated by material load versus the standard recovery for that particular type of material. 3. Ensure the furnace is kept charged so there isn't a break in the production of the product (cone, pyramids, shot, etc.). 4. Ensure you assist the Supervisor with accurate sampling procedures are followed. 5. Ensure with the Supervisor that samples are analyzed to maintain the aluminum is in customer specifications. 6. Ensure all equipment you are using has an equipment checklist completed at the beginning of each shift and notify Equipment Maintenance of any problems. 7. Ensure the right scrap is being charged into the furnace for the product being made. 8. Oversee the safe and proper operation of all mobile equipment required for furnace operations for your crew/shift. 9. Enforce all safety rules and regulations as set forth by company policies. 12. Maintain, and complete pass down reporting between shifts. 13 Maintain all required paperwork to ensure it is complete, up-to-date, and accurate. 15. Follow all directions as may be given by management. (i.e., President, General Manager, Plant Manager, Production Manager, or their Representative.)
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is required to stand on concrete for long periods of time. The employee will have long periods of sitting in the equipment being used for charging the furnace. The employee is also required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, and controls, reach above the head with hands and arms, and will climb requiring some balance. The employee must lift and move varying weights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures of both heat and cold.
Work Environment:
The work environments herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the principle functions and duties of his/her job; (1) While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near open flames, moving machinery and equipment, moving mechanical parts, and in outside weather conditions. (2) Employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and cold. (3) The noise level in the work environment is usually slight to moderate.
Position Requirements:
1. Ability to work well with management, supervisors, other employees, visitors and customers. 2. Some administration skills are helpful. 3. Some mechanical aptitude, equipment familiarization, and general math is helpful. 4. Flexible to work different jobs and shifts as needed and Overtime (OT) as required. 5. Occasional moderate to heavy lifting is required. 6. Must follow all safety protocols in compliance with OSHA regulations along with proper PPE. Follow all company policies and procedures. 7.
