An Operating Engineer or Heavy Equipment Operator drives and operates heavy equipment used in quarries, construction sites, landfills, refuse and recycling centers, or ports. Heavy Equipment may include, but is not limited to, bulldozers, excavators, paving equipment and pile drivers.

Job Description
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and other heavy machinery to efficiently perform excavation tasks.
- Prepare sites for construction by clearing land, digging trenches, and grading surfaces according to blueprints and plans.
- Move, load, and unload materials, ensuring proper handling to avoid damage and maintain site organization.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your crew.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety; report any issues to supervisors.
- Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other team members to coordinate activities and meet project deadlines.
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, hours worked, and materials moved.
- Must set a positive example in the areas of: Metcon' s Core Values, Metcon' s Mission & Vision and Metcon policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 2 years of being a excavation labor.
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in excavation or construction is preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, heavy equipment operation) are a plus.
- Strong understanding of excavation techniques, equipment operation and equipment maintenance needs.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain high standards of work quality.
- Good verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and supervisors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise on-site.
Pay:
$22.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per weekBenefits:
