Owyhee Irrigation District is seeking experienced Seasonal Construction Equipment Operators to assist with a large-scale pipeline construction project scheduled for Winter 2026 through Spring 2027 . This position will work under the direction of the Maintenance Superintendent and involve operating heavy equipment, supporting pipeline installation, earthmoving activities, and related construction tasks. Compensation is based on experience, equipment operating skills, possession of a valid CDL, and overall qualifications. Essential Functions Seasonal Construction Equipment Operators' responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Operate heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, dump trucks, and other construction equipment. Perform excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and material handling activities. Assist with pipeline installation, repairs, and maintenance. Transport equipment and materials safely to and from job sites. Conduct daily equipment inspections. Operate hand tools and power tools as needed to support construction activities. Work safely around underground utilities, existing infrastructure, and other crew members. Assist with miscellaneous construction and maintenance projects as assigned. Maintain a safe and productive work environment while adhering to all district safety policies. Working Conditions and Physical Demands Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions. Fieldwork requires walking long distances across uneven, muddy, rocky, or sloped terrain. Exposure to extreme weather conditions, including below-freezing temperatures, wind, rain, snow, and summer heat. Frequent climbing into and out of heavy equipment. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and operating equipment. Frequent neck and back movement while operating machinery and maintaining awareness of surroundings in tight work areas. Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting, and carrying materials. May be required to work extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as project demands require. Ability to lift and carry equipment, tools, and materials weighing 50 pounds or more. Work may involve entering trenches, confined work areas, and active construction zones. Experience and Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid Driver's License required. Valid CDL preferred; compensation will reflect CDL status and experience. Previous heavy equipment operating experience strongly preferred. Experience with excavation, pipeline construction, earthmoving, or utility construction preferred. Ability to work safely, efficiently, and as part of a crew. Strong work ethic and dependable attendance required.
