Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Excavator Operator with experience operating small to mid-size excavators on infrastructure and residential utility projects. The operator will be responsible for trench excavation, utility installation support, grading operations, and safe equipment operation in residential and municipal environments. The ideal candidate understands precision excavation, maintains strong safety practices, and works closely with pipelayers and field crews to complete projects efficiently. Key Responsibilities Operate small to medium-size excavators for utility trenching and site excavation Perform excavation for sewer, water, drainage, and infrastructure installation Maintain proper trench grade and alignment for utility installation Assist pipelayers and crew members with installation support Perform finish excavation and grading as required Conduct daily equipment inspections and maintain safe operating practices Follow all safety protocols and project specifications Work collaboratively with crew members and supervisors to maintain project productivity Qualifications Proven experience operating excavators in construction environments Experience in residential excavation or underground utility projects preferred Strong understanding of trench safety and excavation best practices Ability to work safely around existing utilities and structures Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Preferred Experience Underground utilities installation (water, sewer, drainage) Residential infrastructure work Municipal infrastructure projects What We Offer Davis-Bacon prevailing wages Competitive hourly compensation with benefits options Opportunity to work on meaningful infrastructure projects across Vermont Professional team environment with skilled operators and crews
