Job Description

Role Overview We are currently looking for a proficient Commercial HVAC Pipefitter with between 3 and 5 years of professional experience to contribute to a commercial construction site located in Piscataway, NJ. This assignment centers on the mechanical setup for a newly constructed 3-story self-storage building. We need a candidate who possesses excellent mechanical skills, comfort with elevated work environments, and a history of executing tidy, high-quality commercial split system installations. While you will operate under the direction of a Foreman, your main duties will involve system layout, the installation of hangers, and the execution of extensive lineset runs. Please note that brazing tasks will be minimal or non-existent, as the project emphasizes routing, layout, and system securing. Key Duties Install and route soft copper linesets to support multiple commercial split units throughout the three-story structure. Follow mechanical blueprints and local regulations to measure, cut, and mount pipe hangers, brackets, and trapeze supports. Ensure clean and efficient piping runs by accurately measuring, bending, and fitting copper tubing to reduce material waste. Utilize scissor lifts, scaffolding, and ladders to safely complete overhead piping installations across all levels of the facility. Coordinate with sheet metal installers and senior mechanics to help ensure the project meets all established deadlines. Necessary Qualifications Possess 3 to 5 years of direct experience in commercial HVAC pipefitting or related commercial installation work. Demonstrate high proficiency in handling soft copper piping, specifically in unrolling, straightening, and bending materials without causing kinks. Maintain a personal set of essential trade hand tools, including benders, pipe cutters, levels, tape measures, and wrenches. Prioritize site safety by maintaining a secure working environment while operating at heights on ladders and lifts, with the ability to lift 50 lbs. Hold an OSHA 10 card, which is strongly preferred, though an EPA Universal certification is considered a beneficial asset. Maintain consistent attendance by having a valid driver's license and dependable transportation to the Piscataway work site. Project Details This is a 2-month engagement for a commercial HVAC pipefitter with 3-5 years of experience. The scope includes running refrigerant lines and installing hangers for split units in a 3-story storage facility. The schedule is 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and you will work under the direct supervision of a Foreman who will handle any necessary brazing.
