As a Pipe Layer, you'll play an important role in building the underground infrastructure that communities depend on every day including water, sewer, storm drain, and utility systems. What You'll Do You'll work hands-on in the field, helping bring important civil construction projects to life.
Your responsibilities will include:
Align and position pipes to prepare them for sealing. Check slopes and grades using lasers, grade rods, transit levels, and other equipment. Connect pipe sections and properly seal joints. Cover and backfill installed pipe with earth or other approved materials. Cut pipe to required lengths and ensure proper fit and alignment. Dig trenches to required depths. Read, identify, and understand blueprints and plans for above- and below-ground utilities. Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools. Follow project specifications and maintain a high standard of safety and quality. Work effectively with crew members, operators, and supervisors to keep projects moving. What You Bring We're looking for someone who knows underground utility work and takes pride in their craft. At least 1 year of pipelaying experience with underground utilities or a similar civil construction field. Strong knowledge of water, sewer, storm drain, dry utilities, and other civil construction projects. Knowledge of pipe-laying methods, practices, and procedures. Ability to read and understand construction plans and utility blueprints. Ability to work outdoors and in challenging conditions, including heat. Ability to bend, kneel, sit, stand, and perform physical work for extended periods. Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance. Strong attention to safety and commitment to following safe work practices. Dependable, hardworking, and ready to be part of a team that takes pride in its work.
