Roto-Rooter Spokane is looking for a strong Plumbing & Drain Operations Manager / Technical Field Leader to help lead, develop, and grow our plumbing and drain cleaning department. This is not a desk-only management role. We are looking for a hands-on leader with strong residential and commercial service plumbing experience who can provide technical guidance, coach developing technicians, improve estimating discipline, reduce callbacks, strengthen profitability, and help build a high-performance service team. This role is best suited for someone who has successfully led technicians, improved field performance, and understands that revenue only matters when the department is profitable. What You'll Do Lead daily plumbing and drain department operations. Support and coach plumbing and drain technicians in the field. Handle customer escalations and service concerns professionally, identify root causes, and use issues as coaching opportunities to improve technician performance and customer experience. Review larger or complex estimates for accuracy, scope, and profitability. Help technicians improve diagnosis, customer communication, documentation, and option presentation. Conduct ride-alongs, technical training, and callback reviews. Work with dispatch and office staff to improve scheduling, productivity, and customer experience. Monitor department performance, including revenue, average ticket, callbacks, gross margin, reviews, and technician productivity. Help recruit, train, and retain high-quality technicians. Support growth in plumbing, drain cleaning, sewer repair, excavation, and water mitigation lead opportunities. Ideal Candidate Qualifications Strong residential and commercial service plumbing experience. Drain, sewer, excavation, or rooter experience strongly preferred. Prior experience leading, training, supervising, or mentoring technicians. Strong estimating judgment and ability to identify under-scoped or underpriced work. Ability to coach younger technicians while holding high standards. Comfortable with service department KPIs, profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational accountability. Confident, organized, proactive, and able to make decisions. Strong communication skills with technicians, customers, office staff, and ownership. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Washington plumbing license required, Idaho plumbing license not required but strongly preferred Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay up to $45/hour, depending on experience.
