- Knoxville, TN Paynes Plumbing & Electric is hiring an experienced Lead Plumber to join our growing team.
We're looking for someone who can confidently take ownership of plumbing jobs from diagnosis through completion, communicate professionally with customers, and maintain a high standard of workmanship in the field. This is not an entry-level position . We need an experienced plumber who is comfortable working independently, making sound decisions in the field, and taking the lead when a job requires it. Responsibilities Diagnose residential and light commercial plumbing problems Complete service, repair, replacement, and installation work Troubleshoot water, drain, sewer, and fixture-related issues Perform water heater installations and replacements Complete water line and sewer line repairs/replacements Use sewer cameras and other diagnostic equipment when needed Accurately explain findings and recommended repairs to customers Document jobs, photos, notes, and recommendations in Housecall Pro Lead jobs and provide direction to helpers or less-experienced team members when assigned Ensure work is completed correctly, efficiently, and to company standards Maintain a clean and professional jobsite Properly care for company vehicles, tools, and equipment Communicate with the office regarding job progress, additional work, materials, and scheduling What We're Looking For Strong professional plumbing experience required Ability to diagnose plumbing problems without constant supervision Experience with residential service plumbing Experience with water heaters, water lines, sewer/drain systems, fixtures, and general plumbing repairs Ability to lead jobs from start to finish Strong customer-service and communication skills Dependable, professional, and able to work as part of a team Valid driver's license with a good driving record Comfortable using a smartphone/tablet for job documentation Ability to perform the physical requirements of plumbing work, including crawlspaces, lifting, digging, and working outdoors Preferably has their own general hand tools commonly used in the plumbing trade. Specialized tools and equipment are available through the company as needed. We offer tool loans if you do not have general tools on hand already. Experience with excavation, sewer cameras, drain cleaning, septic systems, or similar work is a plus.
