The Leadman possesses all the skills required of a

Journeyman Scaffold Builder:

• Construction and dismantling of scaffolding
• Determining amount of materials, identifying appropriate construction locations and transporting scaffolding materials under direct supervision of the lead man
• Explaining instructions and documentation to plan work activities
• Help coordinate movement of materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site
• Complete and reviews records
• Maintain tools and equipment
• Perform various clean-up activities
• Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.

In addition to:

• The ability to supervise a work crew without direct supervision from a higher level
• The ability to communicate with the client regarding all related job tasks, permits, and safety concerns
• Communicating job progress to direct supervision
• Supervision of crew, includes communication of instruction on how to do the tasks required of the craft. The leadman does not make any decisions regarding pay, scheduling, or disciplinary decision making. Physically, workers must be able to:
• Work in direct sunlight
• Stand or walk for long periods
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects
• Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds
• Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
