Permanent Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Residential Skilled Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and improvement of residential buildings. This position requires strong hands-on experience in multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, drywall installation, and more. The Residential Skilled Worker will be a key member of a team providing high-quality service to residential properties.
Key Responsibilities:
General Repairs & Maintenance :
Perform routine and emergency maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and minor repairs.
Installations :
Install, replace, and repair fixtures, doors, windows, cabinets, flooring, and other residential components.
Renovations & Upgrades :
Assist with residential renovation projects, including drywall installation, painting, and the installation of new appliances and systems.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics :
Identify and troubleshoot problems related to electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, and other essential residential components.
Safety & Compliance :
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with safety standards and local building codes. Follow health and safety procedures on-site to ensure a safe work environment.
Customer Service :
Interact with homeowners and tenants to understand and address their maintenance needs. Provide professional and courteous service at all times.
Documentation & Reporting :
Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked. Report any issues or complications to the supervisor or manager.
Team Collaboration :
Work closely with other skilled tradespeople, contractors, and property managers to ensure timely and quality completion of projects.
Preventative Maintenance :
Perform regular inspections of residential properties to identify potential issues before they become serious problems.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a skilled tradesperson in a residential setting (e.g., carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or general construction). Ability to perform a variety of construction and maintenance tasks. Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and standard practices in residential construction and maintenance. High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or trade school education is a plus. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials and work in various conditions (indoor and outdoor).
Preferred Skills:
Experience with drywall, painting, flooring, and cabinetry installation. Basic knowledge of HVAC systems. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Certification in OSHA safety or similar safety programs.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in residential homes and occasionally in external environments, including outdoor areas. May require standing, bending, lifting, and carrying materials during the workday. The job may involve exposure to various weather conditions and may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
