Please Note:
This position is an entry-level role, which, for an ambitious and high-performing employee, will lead to opportunities for advancement into a leadership role! SUMMARY The Roofing Crew Member will install and repair commercial and/or residential roofs with predetermined materials, as the customer has contracted.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
In general:
Installs new roofs and roofing materials on commercial and residential buildings. Inspects roofs to identify any issues in need of repair and to recommend the best repair solution. Assists in measuring roof and calculating materials needed to complete the project. Repairs existing roofs and installs replacement roofing materials. Replaces plywood, joists, or other materials that are damaged or rotting. Transports materials and equipment via truck to the jobsite. Identifies opportunities for improvement. Ensures work environments are adequate and safe. Communicates with management and team members, to promote smooth operations. Improves customer service and satisfaction through professional interaction, to exceed expectations. Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community. Preserves overall worksite maintenance and cleanliness. Properly uses and cares for tools and equipment; and reports any deficiencies in equipment and facilities to the Foreman or Owner. Anticipates disruptive issues which will negatively impact business operations and reports these to management in a timely manner. Minimizes Worker's Compensation claims through training, observation, and safety. Understands all company policies and procedures, ensuring that all members of the roofing crew are safe and in compliance. Exhibits a desire to learn new skills, gain experience, and take on additional responsibilities, with the intent of advancing into leadership positions within the Company. Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The supervision of staffers is not a requirement for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Related technical experience, with knowledge of roofing tools, materials and installation practices, with a minimum of 3 years of related experience . Strong work ethic, with a positive attitude. Excellent team player. Dependable and time-conscious. Willingness and aptitude to follow instructions. Ability to use hand and power tools. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
PREFERRED
High school diploma or equivalent.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Good verbal and written communication, as well as interpersonal skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Proficient math skills, to calculate the amount of materials needed.
REASONING ABILITY
Problem-solving skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Driver's License in good standing. No certifications or registrations are required for this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Prolonged periods of standing and walking as well as reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders, or crawling into awkward spaces. Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds. Must be able to use hand truck, dolly, or wheelbarrow with items weighing up to 100 pounds, while transporting. Must be able to work in interior or exterior environments that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold, as well as inclement weather.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work may be performed inside, as well as outside, of buildings. Roofing will be conducted on buildings of varied heights.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Starting hourly wage of $20.00; Medical, Dental, Vision = employer-paid is not offered at this time; Paid Time Off = after one (1) year of employment, one (1) week of paid time off, with incremental increases with tenure; and Paid Holidays = New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. The Employee may be asked to work on any unpaid holiday at an increased rate of pay, if customers and work situations require.
