    O&M Solar Technician II
  • Job Description
  • The O&M Solar Technician II maintains and supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) plants. This role focuses on electrical and mechanical maintenance, PLC and SCADA monitoring, and troubleshooting of PV systems and components to optimize generation across large solar sites exceeding 350 MW.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on utility-scale PV plants to ensure safe and reliable operation.
+ Conduct routine weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance programs on PV systems and components. + Monitor plant performance through PLC and SCADA systems and identify issues affecting generation output. + Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical, mechanical, and control system faults in PV systems. + Carry out testing, inspection, and commissioning activities for PV equipment and related components. + Respond to on-call repairs, perform field diagnostics, and resolve operational issues in a timely manner. + Support regular operations of large solar sites (350+ MW) to optimize energy generation and minimize downtime. + Document maintenance activities, repairs, and test results in accordance with site procedures and standards. + Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to improve plant performance and reliability. + Adhere to established safety procedures and contribute to a strong safety culture during all site activities.
  • Essential Skills
  • + Hands-on experience with electrical maintenance in an industrial or utility-scale environment.
+ Proficiency in preventive maintenance practices for PV systems and related equipment. + Ability to troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled systems. + Experience with SCADA system observation and basic diagnostics. + Strong skills in electrical and mechanical diagnostics and fault finding. + Background in maintenance technician work within industrial settings. + Capability to perform testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on PV systems and components. + Understanding of utility-scale PV plant operations and performance optimization.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • + Experience working with large industrial plants or power generation facilities.
+ Familiarity with managing maintenance tasks and coordinating with operations teams. + Comfort working with both electrical and mechanical systems in a field environment. + Ability to interpret technical documentation, diagrams, and maintenance procedures. + Strong communication skills to report issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Work Environment
  • This role is based on-site at large utility-scale solar plants, working directly in and around PV fields and associated equipment.
You will spend most of your time in a field environment, performing hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting on live operational systems. The position involves working with industrial electrical and mechanical equipment, PLCs, and SCADA systems in an outdoor setting, often across extensive solar arrays at sites exceeding 350 MW. Work hours may include scheduled maintenance windows and on-call response for urgent repairs, requiring flexibility to support plant operations and ensure continuous generation.

  • This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cheyenne, WY.
  • Pay and Benefits
  • The pay range for this position is $34.
00 - $44.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
