Job Description

Job Overview We are looking for an experienced ASME Code Welder to join our rectangular box header manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing code-compliant welds on air cooler box headers and related components in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section VIII and Section IX. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to quality and safety in a high-performance fabrication environment.

Pay:
$27-30, DOE Responsibilities Perform GTAW, GMAW, SAW, and FCAW welding on rectangular box headers, nozzles, and attachments according to ASME Section IX welding procedures. Interpret and execute engineering drawings, weld maps, and drawings specific to ASME pressure vessel fabrication. Prepare, fit, and align components using jigs, fixtures, and measuring tools to ensure precise assembly and joint integrity. Verify that all welds meet the requirements of ASME Section VIII, customer specifications, and company quality standards. Collaborate closely with Quality Control inspectors to ensure welds pass required NDE (RT, UT, MT, PT) examinations. Maintain accurate documentation, including welder continuity logs, WPS/PQR traceability records, and heat number tracking. Operate and maintain welding machines and related fabrication equipment safely and effectively. Participate in code inspections and contribute to the continuous improvement of welding processes and quality assurance practices. Uphold all safety, environmental, and OSHA regulations in the shop area. Execute pipe threading and soldering as needed for piping systems Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical welding school or trade certification preferred. Valid ASME Section IX welder qualification(s) preferred — preferably with multiple processes and positions (e.g., 3G/4G/6G). Minimum 3-5 years of experience welding in a pressure vessel or heavy fabrication environment. Strong understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section VIII & Section IV Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and angle finders to ensure dimensional accuracy. Proven ability to read and follow detailed fabrication drawings and specifications. Excellent workmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to producing code-quality welds. Transportation Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, bend, and work for extended periods. Good eyesight, steady hands, and manual dexterity.
