Description We are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to support a busy legal team. This Contract position is ideal for someone who is comfortable managing litigation support tasks, maintaining organized case activity, and handling time-sensitive legal documentation. The role requires strong coordination skills, sound judgment, and the ability to keep attorneys and case matters on track in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, format, and submit legal documents through electronic filing systems while ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
Maintain attorney calendars by coordinating hearings, filings, meetings, and other case-related commitments with close attention to scheduling changes.
Draft, revise, and finalize correspondence, pleadings, and other legal materials from dictation, notes, and attorney direction.
Monitor litigation timelines and track important dates to help keep civil and defense matters progressing efficiently.
Organize case files, records, and supporting documentation so information is accurate, accessible, and up to date.
Communicate with courts, clients, and outside counsel regarding filings, scheduling, and document coordination as needed.
Review documents for completeness, formatting, and procedural accuracy before submission or distribution.
Provide day-to-day administrative and legal support to attorneys handling civil litigation matters.
Assist with managing document flow, follow-up items, and general office support related to active defense litigation cases. Requirements
At least 5 years of experience working as a Legal Secretary or in a similar legal support role.
Hands-on experience with electronic filing and court filing procedures.
Background supporting civil litigation matters, including defense litigation work.
Strong calendar management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
Proficiency in preparing documents from dictation and attorney instructions.
Solid understanding of legal document formatting, filing requirements, and court-related procedures.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
