Job Description

The English Language and Literature Department of Christendom Collegeinvites applications for a full-time position as an Assistant orAssociate Professor,to be determined by qualifications, beginning August 15, 2027. While preferencemay be shown for applicants with ascholarly focus on modern British and/orAmerican literature, we seek a candidate who can teach any of the literature coursesin the corecurriculum, which examines literature from Homer and Virgil toDostoevsky and Flannery O'Connor. While preference may be shown forapplicantswho hold the Ph. D., we will also consider Ph. D. candidates who can demonstrateteaching excellence. Located inVirginia's Shenandoah Valley, Christendom College is a RomanCatholic, four-year, liberal arts college dedicated to restoring all things inChrist through academic excellence and fidelity to the Magisterium. Theteaching load is fourcourses per semester, but the successful candidate, when pursuingscholarship, may be eligible for a reduced load,subject to approval by theVPAA. The candidateshould be strongly committed to undergraduate teaching and eager to join acommunity that isguided by the complementary lights of faith and reason. Inaccordance with the Apostolic Constitution Ex corde Ecclesiae , allfacultyof the College annually profess an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisteriumbefore the local Ordinary as a voluntary act.
