Job Description

These positions are available to current Ivy Tech students only. Students are placed on a semester basis as needed. Work Study positions are federally funded, part-time positions. Most positions are located on-campus but may be located off-campus for students completing internships at non-profit or government agencies. On-campus positions are available for general office and clerical work, maintenance work, and lab assistants. Opportunities & Benefits for the

Participating Students Will:

Gain real-world experience in their field of study Develop communication and leadershio skills Build professional networks Strengthen civic engagement Enhance career readiness through applied learning Human Services Community Resource Navigation Help individuals locate housing resources Connect families with food pantries and clothing assistance Assist with utility assistance applications Help people apply for Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, and other benefits Provide referrals for mental health and substance abuse services Create and distribute resource guide Promote self-care strategies Connecting individuals to workforce resources Conduct resource outreach opportunities Help connect individuals with shelters Assist with housing applications Digital Help Desk Troubleshoot computers and laptops Remove malware and viruses Install software updates Set up printers and scanners Assist with email issues Recover forgotten passwords (following policies) Optimize slow computers Perform basic computer maintenance Technology Clinics for the Community Offer free or low-cost "Tech Help Days" where residents can receive assistance with: Smartphones Tablets Laptops Smart TVs Wi-Fi connections Software updates Device setup Data backup Cybersecurity Awareness Offering workshops covering: Password safety Email scams Identity theft prevention Online banking safety Social media privacy Safe internet practices Multi-factor authentication Data protection Senior Technology Assistance Smartphone basics Text messaging FaceTime and Zoom Online banking safety Prescription refill apps Telehealth appointments Social media basics Digital photo management Must have a high school diploma or GED Applicants must be current Ivy Tech student Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at the Valparaiso or Michigan City locations Must have a current FAFSA on file Must be making satisfactory Academic Progress as determined by the financial aid office Must have financial need as determined by the Financial Aid office All applicants will be reviewed by the campus Financial Aid department contacted about openings if they meet the requirements.
