Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract position as an Elementary Life Skills Teacher, specializing in special education for grades K-6. This full-time opportunity offers the chance to make a meaningful difference throughout the entire school year, supporting students with diverse learning needs in a positive, inclusive environment. As an essential member of the educational team, you'll draw on your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to design and deliver individualized instruction that promotes growth and independence for every student. Your day-to-day work will center on fostering life skills, academic progression, and social-emotional development for elementary-aged learners within a collaborative school community.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
Valid teaching certification with a Special Education endorsement Proven experience or strong interest in elementary special education, particularly teaching life skills to K-6 students Comprehensive grasp of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies for diverse learning needs Strong collaboration skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and staff Positive, patient, and flexible approach to teaching and classroom management
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute engaging, differentiated lesson plans addressing life skills and academic content Conduct ongoing assessments, document progress, and report on student achievement Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collaborate with related service providers Support social-skill development and foster an inclusive classroom culture Partner with general education teachers and support staff to ensure a coordinated approach Engage with parents and guardians to build trusting relationships and provide regular updates This position offers a fantastic chance to impact young learners and contribute to their development and success.
