Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make an immediate impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting a vital self-contained classroom for students with mild disabilities. This is a full-time, onsite position at a local middle school, offering 35 hours per week through the end of 2026. The contract role is designed for dedicated education professionals ready to foster growth and inclusivity within a supportive school environment.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Valid and active Indiana teaching license for Special Education (must be able to provide verification) Previous experience teaching or supporting students with mild disabilities preferred Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to adapt and implement IEPs tailored to individual student needs Excellent communication skills for collaboration with staff and families Committed to maintaining a positive and structured learning environment
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction to students in a self-contained classroom setting Develop and modify lesson plans to meet state standards and IEP goals Assess student progress regularly and communicate results Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other support staff Maintain accurate documentation, including attendance, grades, and IEP compliance Encourage student engagement, independence, and social-emotional growth Foster an atmosphere of respect, inclusion, and safety within the classroom If you thrive in a dynamic, student-centered environment and bring enthusiasm for helping learners succeed, this contract position is an ideal opportunity.
