Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Step into an impactful educational role supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a dynamic school setting. This contract opportunity is ideal for professionals passionate about fostering inclusive learning environments and making a lasting difference in students' lives. You'll be working two days per week, providing specialized instruction and advocating for accessibility in classroom experiences.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid NC DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) teaching license required Experience as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing preferred Strong skills in individualized instruction strategies and student advocacy Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting lesson plans to diverse learning styles Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to create accessible classroom experiences Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and make data-driven instructional decisions Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding best practices and accommodations Ensure compliance with individualized education plans (IEPs) and participate in IEP meetings Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with district policies : Contract position for the 2026-2027 school year 2 days per week; 16 hours per week schedule Start date: August 17, 2026, End date: June 4, 2027 This role is an opportunity to empower students and partner with dedicated educational professionals.
