Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of young children by supporting their early learning journey. An exciting contract opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to work with an early childhood caseload (birth-5 years old). This role is vital in helping children with hearing challenges develop essential communication and social-emotional skills. This position begins as soon as possible and runs through May 20, 2027, offering the flexibility of either full-time or part-time schedules (part-time between 15-25 hours per week). The work is exclusively onsite, allowing you to directly engage with students, families, and educational teams to provide hands-on support.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education Experience in early childhood special education, preferably working with children from birth to 5 years Strong knowledge of various communication modalities, including American Sign Language and listening & spoken language techniques Familiarity with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and early intervention services Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to each student's unique needs Collaborate with general education staff, specialists, and families to ensure cohesive support Offer guidance and resources to parents and caregivers to promote language acquisition at home Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed This is a meaningful opportunity to empower young learners as they build the foundation for lifelong academic and social success.
