Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting high school students in a dynamic educational setting for a mid-term contract position. This onsite role is ideal for a dedicated Special Education Teacher ready to bring expertise and enthusiasm to an ED classroom. You'll play a key role providing guidance, structure, and instruction while collaborating closely with educational teams.

Key Qualifications:

Valid New York State Teaching License with High School endorsement Required certifications for an ED (Emotional Disturbance) classroom environment Previous experience in special education or ED settings strongly preferred Excellent classroom management skills and adaptive teaching methods Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead instruction and support for high school students in an ED classroom Create safe, inclusive, and structured classroom experiences Develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and adapt strategies as necessary Work in partnership with other professionals, families, and support staff Contribute to IEP meetings, progress reporting, and student support initiatives
