In-Person - McHenry, Illinois About Learning Linx Learning Linx, Inc. is a growing educational and therapeutic support center located in McHenry, Illinois. As a proud member of the National Test Prep Association (NTPA) , we are committed to providing high-quality, evidence-informed test preparation and individualized academic support. We are expanding our college entrance exam preparation programs and seeking a knowledgeable, experienced ACT/SAT Test Prep Specialist to join our team. We provide individualized academic coaching, executive functioning support, and specialized educational services in a welcoming, student-centered environment. Position Overview The ACT/SAT Test Prep Specialist will provide engaging, structured, and results-driven instruction to high school students preparing for college entrance exams. This position includes opportunities to work with students individually, in small groups, and in larger classroom-style test preparation programs through potential partnerships with local high schools. The ideal candidate will have strong subject-area knowledge, familiarity with current ACT and SAT exam formats, and the ability to develop effective instructional strategies that improve student performance and test-taking confidence. Key Responsibilities Provide individualized and group-based ACT and SAT preparation instruction. Teach test content, including English, mathematics, reading, and ACT science where applicable. Develop and implement structured test preparation lessons and study plans. Assess student strengths and areas for improvement using diagnostic assessments and practice examinations. Teach effective test-taking strategies, pacing techniques, and time management skills. Monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches based on performance. Prepare students for both digital and paper-based testing formats, as applicable. Maintain accurate instructional records, progress notes, and student performance data. Communicate professionally with students, families, and Learning Linx management. Collaborate with leadership to develop and expand ACT/SAT preparation programs. Facilitate small-group workshops and larger high school test preparation courses as opportunities arise. Maintain a positive, professional, and encouraging learning environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, mathematics, English, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Strong knowledge of ACT and/or SAT exam content and test-taking strategies. Experience tutoring, teaching, or providing academic instruction to high school students. Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills. Ability to explain challenging concepts clearly and adapt instruction to different learning styles. Dependability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently. Availability during some weekday evenings and/or Saturdays. Ability to successfully complete required background checks. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience teaching ACT/SAT preparation courses. Experience leading small-group or classroom-based instruction. Familiarity with official ACT and College Board preparation resources. Demonstrated success helping students improve standardized test scores. Teaching certification or experience in secondary education. Experience working with students who have ADHD, executive functioning challenges, or learning differences. Experience developing test preparation curricula and instructional materials. Schedule & Opportunities This is a part-time position with the potential for additional hours as our test preparation programs expand.
