  • Quality of Earnings & M&A Advisory Part-Time / Engagement-Based | Potential to Grow Into Leadership Role South Florida / Hybrid About the Opportunity An emerging M&A financial intelligence and transaction advisory company is looking for an entrepreneurial CPA interested in Quality of Earnings, business acquisitions, and the application of technology and AI to financial diligence.
We have developed a financial intelligence platform designed to analyze the financial performance of privately held businesses and help identify earnings adjustments, inconsistencies, risks, and diligence issues that can materially affect a transaction. We're looking for a CPA who wants something different from the traditional accounting-firm career path. This is not a conventional tax or audit position. You'll work directly with the founder to review financial analyses, help develop Quality of Earnings and transaction-advisory capabilities, interact with business owners and deal professionals, and help shape a growing financial technology and advisory business. The position is initially part-time and engagement-based , making it particularly attractive for an early-career CPA interested in developing expertise in M&A and Quality of Earnings while maintaining other professional commitments. What You'll Do You'll work with financial information from privately held businesses and help: Review P&Ls, balance sheets, tax returns, general ledgers, and supporting financial records Analyze EBITDA, SDE, normalization adjustments, and owner add-backs Identify unusual, unsupported, non-recurring, or potentially questionable income and expenses Review and pressure-test financial analyses generated by our proprietary technology Apply independent professional judgment to financial findings and supporting evidence Help develop CPA-reviewed Quality of Earnings and transaction-advisory deliverables Communicate financial findings clearly to buyers, sellers, business brokers, lenders, and advisors Participate in selected client and prospect conversations Help establish review procedures and professional standards as the practice develops Provide feedback that helps improve the underlying financial-intelligence platform For the right person, the opportunity can extend well beyond accounting. If you're commercially minded, there will also be opportunities to participate in business development, demonstrations, professional partnerships, client acquisition, and building the advisory practice itself. Who We're Looking For You should have: An active CPA license; Florida licensure preferred Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles Excellent analytical and professional judgment The ability to recognize when numbers don't make sense and investigate why Strong written and verbal communication skills Curiosity about mergers & acquisitions and privately held businesses Comfort working independently in an entrepreneurial environment Interest in technology and AI-assisted financial analysis Prior Quality of Earnings or transaction-advisory experience is helpful but not required. We're particularly interested in an early-career CPA who wants to develop transaction-advisory experience rather than spending the next several years exclusively in traditional tax or audit work. You May Be an Excellent Fit If… You're the kind of accountant who looks at a financial statement and immediately starts asking questions. You don't just want to prepare numbers—you want to understand what the numbers mean, what is behind them, and whether they can be trusted. You're interested in M&A, entrepreneurship, financial technology, or transaction advisory. You may eventually want to build your own practice or play a meaningful role in building one. And you'd rather help create something than simply inherit somebody else's accounting workflow.
Compensation Indeed compensation range:
$50
  • 100/hour equivalent, depending on experience, engagement complexity, and responsibilities.
Actual compensation structure:
This is an engagement-based opportunity. Compensation will be agreed upon and paid per completed client engagement rather than based on guaranteed weekly hours. Typical engagement compensation is expected to be approximately $500
  • 1,500+ , with higher compensation possible for larger or more complex assignments.
There are no guaranteed minimum hours or engagement volume. This is initially a part-time, engagement-based opportunity rather than a traditional salaried position. Engagement volume will vary as the practice grows, making this an opportunity that can initially be pursued alongside other professional commitments. Additional performance-based compensation may be available for professionals who contribute to business development, client acquisition, referral relationships, or practice growth. For the right individual, there is significant potential for the relationship to develop into a larger recurring role and potentially a leadership position within the transaction-advisory practice. Why This Opportunity Is Different Most early-career CPAs have limited opportunities to work directly on acquisitions and Quality of Earnings engagements. Here, you'll be working on those problems from the beginning. You'll gain exposure to privately held business transactions while helping develop a technology-enabled approach to financial diligence. You'll also have the opportunity to work closely with the founder and influence how the professional-services component of an emerging financial technology platform is built. We're looking for someone who sees that as an opportunity—not simply another accounting job. To Apply Please submit your resume along with a short response to the following question: Why does an entrepreneurial Quality of Earnings / M&A advisory opportunity interest you more than a traditional CPA position? We are especially interested in hearing from candidates who are excited about the intersection of accounting, M&A, entrepreneurship, and technology.
