Description Position Overview Bayview Psychotherapy Services is actively seeking a dedicated and culturally competent Licensed Mental Health Therapist for a full-time position, primarily working through telehealth. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in providing therapeutic support to clients by delivering high-quality mental health care that aligns with their individual needs and backgrounds. About the Organization Located in Buffalo, New York, Bayview Psychotherapy Services is committed to promoting mental health awareness and well-being among diverse populations. Our outpatient practice prides itself on fostering an inclusive and adaptive environment where mental health professionals work collaboratively to address the unique challenges faced by our clientele. We specialize in providing culturally sensitive mental health services to ethnic and cultural minorities, LGBTQ+ communities, and immigrant populations, aiming to empower every individual who seeks our care. Work Environment This position is entirely remote, allowing for flexibility in work-life balance while maintaining professional commitments. Our team operates primarily from the comfort of their homes, engaging in telehealth sessions that accommodate the needs of our patients. The role requires adherence to best practices in digital communication and maintaining patient confidentiality through electronic health record (EHR) systems. The core work hours are Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with some flexibility needed based on patient demand. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough mental health assessments that are culturally responsive and tailored to the unique experiences of each patient, facilitating the development of effective treatment plans. Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, employing techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care specific to individual backgrounds. Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions that not only address psychological concerns but also build resilience and coping strategies among patients. Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists and psychologists, to coordinate care and enhance treatment outcomes. Respond to mental health crises with composure and expertise, offering immediate support and crisis intervention when needed. Educate patients and their families about mental health issues, providing resources and information regarding available treatment options and external support systems. Maintain comprehensive and confidential documentation, ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines and legal standards. Engage in team meetings, case conferences, and ongoing professional training sessions focused on enhancing cultural competence within therapeutic practices. Stay up-to-date with developments in mental health research and best practices in treatment methodologies. Patient Population / Client Focus The therapist will primarily work with a diverse patient population, including individuals from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ clients, and immigrants. Understanding the unique cultural dynamics and challenges these populations face is essential for effective therapy. You'll have the chance to address a wide range of mental health concerns, from anxiety and depression to trauma-related disorders, all within a supportive and inclusive therapeutic framework. Qualifications A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required. Current and active licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker-R (LCSW-R) in the state of New York. A deep understanding of diverse mental health disorders, cultural competence, and evidence-based treatment modalities. Experience in delivering both individual and group therapy, employing culturally responsive practices. Strong crisis intervention skills, demonstrating a calm and effective approach in high-pressure scenarios. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to establish rapport with individuals from varied backgrounds. Proficiency in using EHR systems for documentation and case management. Commitment to maintaining ethical standards, confidentiality, and professional boundaries in all client interactions. A collaborative mindset, enabling effective teamwork within a multidisciplinary setting.
