School Psychologist - West Hartford, CT

Job Description

Step into a key role supporting student success in an elementary school setting, where your expertise as a School Psychologist will make a real difference. This contract opportunity, starting as soon as possible for the 2026-2027 school year, offers the chance to work within school hours (8:20 AM-3:35 PM) and contribute to a nurturing educational environment. The position is located conveniently near West Hartford, CT. In this position, you will engage with a developing caseload of approximately 20 students, providing comprehensive evaluations, targeted interventions, and crisis response support as needed. Flexibility is valued, and your role could potentially transition to focus exclusively on evaluations depending on school needs.
Desired Qualifications:
Active School Psychologist certification for Connecticut, or eligibility to obtain Previous experience working with elementary-age children, preferably in a school setting Strong skills administering cognitive, social-emotional, and behavioral assessments Ability to develop and implement individualized plans and interventions Knowledgeable in crisis intervention and response practices Effective communicator, able to collaborate with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation capabilities
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough student evaluations and assessments to identify learning or behavioral needs Provide short-term counseling or crisis intervention as situations arise Develop and recommend individualized educational plans (IEPs) and monitor progress Work closely with teachers and staff, offering consultation and support for student development Maintain accurate records and participate in meetings as required Adapt as needed to changes in caseload or evaluation-only responsibilities If you're passionate about helping students thrive and want to bring your skills to a supportive environment, we invite you to explore this opportunity.
