FINANCIAL COUNSELOR I

to join our

PATIENT ACCESS-REGISTRATION

team! The Financial Counselor I manages patient account credit and collection telephone calls and collection letters including tracking patient accounts transferred to an outside collection agency, perform financial assistance screening, work with patients on payment arrangements, complete price estimates, and monitor patient insurance for contracted status. This position supports Revenue Cycle operations across the Aspirus Health system promoting the mission, vision and values of Aspirus.

HOURS:

Full Time 1.0 FTE, 80 Hours Biweekly Experience/Qualifications Knowledge of basic accounting, patient financial practices, and governmental and legal rules and regulations related to collection activities normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical school or college majoring in some aspect of health information, medical coding or business program beneficial. Knowledge of medical terminology desired. One year's experience in customer service desired. Previous call center experience is desired. Prior collections experience desired. Previous medical insurance experience beneficial. Prior Epic knowledge beneficial. Proficiency in the use of relevant computer applications, call center systems, and miscellaneous office equipment. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, problem solving ability, sound judgment, adaptability, and resilience while working independently. Ability to complete work with interruptions and time pressures, be accurate and detail- oriented in all work products and prioritize and meet deadlines.
