Job Description

HCA Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Respiratory Therapist RRT to deliver high-quality respiratory care in a collaborative, patient-centered hospital setting. In this role, you will perform assessments, administer treatments, manage ventilators, and respond to emergencies for diverse patient populations. You will interpret ABGs, support physicians with care plans, and educate patients and families. Responsibilities Assess, plan, and deliver respiratory care treatments for acute and chronically ill patients. Set up, manage, and monitor mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation. Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases and adjust therapy per protocols. Respond to codes and respiratory emergencies, providing airway management and support. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams on care plans. Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies, equipment use, and disease management. Perform and document respiratory assessments and interventions in the EMR accurately and timely. Maintain, troubleshoot, and ensure proper infection control for respiratory equipment. Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Participate in continuing education, competencies, and quality improvement initiatives. Required Skills Mechanical ventilation management Arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation Respiratory assessments Airway management NICU/PICU or adult critical care support Pulmonary function testing Emergency response (codes, rapid response) Respiratory equipment setup and troubleshooting Electronic medical record documentation Infection control practices
