Job Description

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Respiratory Therapist Cardiopulmonary Specialty to deliver advanced respiratory care in our acute-care setting. In this role, you will assess, treat, and monitor patients with cardiopulmonary disorders, perform diagnostic tests, manage ventilators, and administer therapeutic modalities. You will collaborate closely with physicians and nursing staff to develop patient-centered care plans while ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities Assess, plan, and provide respiratory care for patients with cardiopulmonary conditions Perform and interpret respiratory diagnostic tests (e.g., ABGs, spirometry) Set up, manage, and troubleshoot ventilators and other respiratory equipment Administer therapeutic respiratory treatments and medications Monitor patient responses and adjust care plans in collaboration with physicians Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in patient records Educate patients and families on respiratory therapies and home care Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory standards Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning Support quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives Required Skills Respiratory assessment and treatment planning Ventilator setup, management, and troubleshooting Arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation Spirometry and pulmonary function testing Administration of aerosol and oxygen therapies Cardiopulmonary monitoring and emergency response support Clinical documentation in EMR systems Infection prevention and safety compliance Interdisciplinary teamwork and communication Patient and family education
